Last week we talked about summer essentials for a day at the beach, and today we’re talking about backyard summer parties! I find summer entertaining so joyful and, frankly, so easy. It doesn’t take much more than food on the grill, frosty drinks and a few well-placed candles to make a crowd happy. But if you felt so inclined to throw in a few pretty little extras? I assure you nobody would complain about that, either. By now you already know I have a love affair with everything blue and turquoise, which is an especially pretty color for summer, so I loaded up my wish list with sparkling indigo, aqua and emerald for an imaginary fête that’s basically too pretty for words.
For entertaining in general, I always keep a cake stand or two on hand. They’re obviously well suited to serving up desserts, but they’re also great for things like cheese platters, too. Or pile them up with dinner rolls! (You can see more favorite cake stands here.) Great cloth napkins, sparkling glassware and a few throws tossed about so guests can cozy up when the evening starts to chill and you really can do no wrong.
