Loving a Lakeside Summer Vacation

I’m not sure if it’s being sick this week or just a serious need for a vacation, but this week all I can think about is running away to a little lakeside cabin in the woods. The perfect summer vacation in my book consists of long, lazy lakeside days spent swimming from the dock, reading books, making s’mores and cooking dinner over the campfire. Late afternoon walks before dinner, maybe a cat nap or two. The weather this week has been warm, humid, dark and stormy. For some reason it has me wanting to hide away in the woods even more. Turns out, it has been over four years since my last real vacation. I never take more than a few days off at a time and I think it’s catching up with me. Maybe this summer flu (or whatever it is) is a part of that? Whatever is going on, this is what my daydreams look like at the moment. Does anyone have any summer vacations plan? Spill the beans!

Four years is a long time. Sometimes I think of illness as my body forcing me to slow down. This weekend we will make a pilgrimage to the D-Day beaches in Normandy. I have wanted to do this for a long time. I am excited and honored that I get to do this. Have a restful rest of the week. Hata www.chicagotofrance.com

These pictures make me long for a road trip! Such a wonderful selection of images to set the mood on a very dreary cloudy British day. And I really want a s'mores cupcake now ;) Hope you feel better soon

We definitely have similar ideas for the perfecting summer vacation! Later this summer I will be staying at a cottage by a lake. You definitely need and deserve a vacation, four years is long enough! I hope you feel better soon :) emmasbeginning.blogspot.com
