A Backyard Winter Skating Party

Today we’re giving up on fighting winter and embracing all of her cold, snowy wonder by revisiting this real party feature from way back in 2010. This backyard ice skating party is one of the most popular parties I’ve ever featured! Created by event planner Kate of Beautiful Days, it’s all the things I love about winter. A big frozen pond, a roaring bonfire, a few twinkle lights strung across the backyard, mugs full of hot cooca with homemade marshmallows, ice skating and yummy snacks like little paper bags stuffed full of popcorn. You can see more of the beautiful photos from Geneve Hoffman by visiting the original post. Here’s to staying warm, any way you make it work!

This is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect activity for party guests at a winter one-derland themed first birthday party. Would give the older children at the party something super fun and unique to do! Thanks for sharing!

I agree completely, Stacy! It's the little details that make it really special, without being fussy.

I am in love with this and wish it were my backyard! The details are simple, but elegant like the star-shaped whip cream. This would be a fantastic party or low-key wedding.
