June is one of my favorite months of the year, probably due to associating it with the start of summer vacation as a kid. Even now as an adult, many years past even my college or grad school days, I still love the start of summer! There’s an energy and lightness that comes along with the summer solstice that begs to be celebrated, which is why today I’m joining up with my pals at Dr. Oetker Virtuoso to share this sangria recipe. Appropriately enough, I’ve dubbed it a sparkling summer solstice sangria, and loaded it up with mango and raspberries so it’s super fruity and delicious, but not overly sweet. Paired with your favorite Virtuoso pizza, it makes for the perfect casual summer cocktail hour on the back patio or front porch.
I paired my sangria with the new Virtuoso Classic Crust pizza, which features a tasty thicker crust and five seriously delicious flavor combinations like my favorite, Vegetable & Goat Cheese, and Bob’s favorite, Kale & Bacon with Ricotta. It goes from the freezer to perfection in about 16 minutes in the oven, so you can make your sangria earlier in the day, toss a pizza in the oven last minute and be ready to relax or mingle with friends in a snap. With the same fresh-picked ingredients as the original thin and crispy crust pizzas, you crust lovers will go crazy for the Classic Crust pizza which is both crispy but also light and airy inside. Topped with signature sauce and bursting with fresh flavor, there’s nothing not to love here, friends. And you’re guaranteed to love this sangria, too, so win-win!
- 1 (750 ml) bottle sauvignon blanc wine
- 1 cup raspberry vodka
- 3 cups ginger ale
- 1 cup fresh mango, cubed
- 1 cup fresh raspberries
- Add raspberries and mango chunks to a large pitcher.
- Pour in the wine and vodka, then stir well.
- Refrigerate for 2 - 3 hours, or longer.
- Just before serving, top off with ginger ale then stir gently again.
To get your hands on the new Virtuoso Classic Crust pizzas, check out the Virtuoso store locator to find where they’re sold near you, or put in a request with your local grocery store. The thicker crust is still perfectly crispy on the outside, with the same commitment to delicious, gourmet toppings making it seriously tasty. Served up alongside this summery sangria recipe, this has lazy summer evening written all over it. Is anyone else eagerly awaiting the official start of summer? How are you toasting the occasion?
