My Favorite Places to Shop for Super Stylish Plus Size Clothing

This post has been a long time in coming. I’ve talked about my lifelong weight struggles before, but not with any consistency. Last year, I shared a post about why I don’t share photos of myself online that resonated with so many of you. In all, there were hundreds of comments here, on social media and via email. It blew my mind. It humbled me. It made me realize that I am so far from being alone in my internal battle to feel “good enough” despite my weight. I committed then that we would talk about this more. I pledged to try and push myself a bit to step out in front of the camera and to open up a dialogue. I haven’t done an exceptional job of that as of yet, but it’s something I am still passionate about doing. (But ultimately afraid of, too.) So here we are! Today we’re talking plus size fashion. Someday soon I want to talk more about weight in general (and how we’re all so paralyzed by it), some changes I’m starting to make in my own life and generally just get into some of this more. In the meantime, it’s all about my favorite places to shop for plus size clothing! I am such a clothes horse and lover of fashion, and while it’s certainly more difficult as a woman of a particular size, I’m still committed to looking and feeling my best at my current weight. Over the years I’ve developed a list of go-to shopping destinations and since I tend to get a lot of compliments on my wardrobe from women of all sizes, I thought it might be helpful to share some of my favorites with you! Any other favorites of your own? Sharing is caring, friends, chime in below!

City Chic is my go-to when I’m on the hunt for gorgeous dresses. When I’m traveling, attending a wedding or going to a formal event, I always start with City Chic. I own loads of their dresses and have my eye on several more. They can be a little bit pricey, but run amazing sales frequently, plus the quality really backs up the price. They also have some great tops and jeans, with sizes ranging from 14 to 24, but their dresses are my favorite. Old Navy is probably among my top three most frequented destinations for cute plus size clothes. They have incredible basics like jeans, tees and sweaters, some of the cutest plus size active wear on the market, and a great selection of dresses and tops. Loads of my casual everyday pieces are from Old Navy, where their sizes generally run from 16 to 30 and most items come in well under $60, keeping things pretty darn affordable, too. Where to shop for stylish and trendy plus size clothing - click through for all @cydconverse's favorite places to shop! | Torrid Review

Torrid is another of my absolute favorite places to shop! In particular, I love their tops. Since I’ve never met a bold floral print I didn’t love, their wide selection of styles, lengths and patterns is a great match for my personal style which is a decided blend of boho meets classic New England prep. Where to shop for stylish and trendy plus size clothing - click through for all @cydconverse's favorite places to shop! | ASOS Curve Plus Size Review

ASOS carries sizes 14 to 24 with occasional styles in sizes 26 and 28, and they’re my other favorite! ASOS is my go-to for trendier, more fashion forward pieces for all seasons. They have incredible dresses (including special occasion dresses), swimsuits, jeans, tops, and accessories in really fresh, stylish cuts, patterns and styles. [From top left: Floral print shift dress | Contrast mono stripe swimsuit | Crochet panel maxi beach dress | Extreme distressed skinny jeans.]

Where to shop for stylish and trendy plus size clothing - click through for all @cydconverse's favorite places to shop! | Eloquii Review

Eloquii has some of the prettiest dresses going, especially party dresses and everything comes in sizes 14 to 28. They also have sweet tops, swimsuits and skirts, many of which have interesting tailoring and construction like oversized bows, great structured sleeves or unique twists on the classic peplum hemline. They’re a bit higher end and the prices reflect that, but the quality is worth it and the designs are largely very of the moment. They also have great wear to work pieces for those of you working in a more traditional office environment. Target can not be forgotten in this round-up, especially their Ava & Viv line covering sizes 14 – 26. Obviously being Target the prices are great, and the online selection is particularly robust. I love their jeans and tees, but they also have cute tops and skirts in addition to a full collection of cute things for us curvier girls. Maurices carries plus sizes in 14 to 24 and have some of my favorite jeans going! I find their jeans to be really high end, with great cuts and washes that feel modern and stylish, and the quality is excellent. I also love them for basics like cute tees and maxi dresses. Loft recently expanded their offerings to include sizes 16 to 26, all with their signature use of color and pattern. I love their tops and dresses, but for those of you who need to dress more formally for work (read: dress pants, suit jackets, dresses etc.) be sure to give Loft a look! They kind of master the stylish business casual and business formal sector of the market if you ask me. Great round up! One place I loooveeee is eShakti. Dresses are amazing quality & everything can be customized. From arms to neckline to length. The sales are pretty great, too!

I didn't know about city chic - thanks for the heads up.

I have that burnout top from Target and it's awesome.

I find the whole off the shoulder trend to be very unflattering for me and my boobs. I don't see too many people wearing those dresses but retailers certainly are making a lot!

I'm actually not super large breasted, I very much carry my weight around the stomach/hips, so off the shoulder, one shoulder and strapless actually work for me and tend to be flattering since they sort of draw the eye up and I don't have to worry too much about falling out of things. That said, any kind of shift or swing dress tends to look awful on me for the same reasons!

I have loved every dress I've ever bought from City Chic! I originally found them by falling in love with one of their dresses at Nordstrom and then doing a Google search to see if I could find more of their stuff. Their sales are killer, too!

Ahh. I love this. I always have such a hard time finding clothing here. I hope some of these stores ship internationally! There's such a lack of options in Canada!

Thanks, Jennifer! I am so glad it's helpful. I know for sure that ASOS ships worldwide. They're actually UK-based and they are kind of known for very reasonable international shipping. To the US there's not even any duty. I just did a quick look and it looks like Torrid, Maurices, Eloquii, Loft, Old Navy and City Chic all ship to Canada! City Chic is actually a flat rate of $5.00 for shipping to Canada. I hope this helps! xoxo
