Friends, let’s chat about Mother’s Day! This will only be my third Mother’s Day as a mom, so I’m still fully in the mindset of thinking of the day as a celebration of my mother and now late grandmothers versus myself.
Flowers
This time of year I almost always have fresh cut flowers around the house. It’s almost a little crazy just how happy a big bunch of blooms in the center of the dining room table or tucked on the mantle can make me. Now that the snow is finally gone and the screen doors have been opened up, flowers around the house really drives home that spring vibe and they make me insanely happy. I get a lot of questions from friends about how I take care of cut flowers and I’ve shared them before here, but it seemed like a good time to revisit my favorite easy tips for how to keep flowers fresh, alive and perky for as long as possible. Any other tricks you can share with me? Fill me in!
Well, friends, tomorrow is my birthday! And is the case at least 50% of the time, it’s supposed to be cold and possibly even snowy tomorrow. (The other 50% of the time it’s 70 and feels like a heat wave. Ahhhh, April in upstate New York!) So while I’m anticipating a birthday that feels very little like spring at all and should be rather gray, I’m channeling all of the bright, happy spring-like things today in the run up to Easter in a couple weeks.
Hi, friends! I’m starting the week off a bit differently, combining a very belated dose of Friday Link Love with a bit of “The Best of Sunday” only on a Monday. I have loads of fun posts headed your way this week including a look at our master bedroom makeover, an awesome cocktail primed and …
I was so excited to receive an advance copy of Decorate with Flowers a couple of weeks ago and now that this gorgeous book is on sale I had to share it with you today. The latest book release from Holly of decor8 (whom I’ve admired for so very long) co-written by the incredibly talented …
Have you guys seen this gorgeous giant bouquet? I’ve found myself staring at it off and one now for a couple of weeks because it’s just that lovely. And besides, it has me feeling all kinds of excited about spring! (Because, you know, it’s finally creeping into the 40s this week so I have hopes …
My grandmother was an avid gardener and her love for gorgeous flowers has been passed down the generations, first to my mother and then to me. I’m a lifelong sucker for beautiful bouquets and lush centerpieces, the more romantic the better. I’ve found myself pinning so many stunning floral arrangements lately that it’s definitely safe …
I love these pretty flower girl accessories from Untamed Petals. There is something about long ribbons, wreaths of flowers and whimsical headbands that remind me of a storybook. As a little kid I used to try and tie daisies together to make a little crown of flowers to wear around. It never seemed to work …
I love these pretty letterpress wedding invitations so much I don’t even know where to start. Designed by the lovely Sarah Parrott for her own wedding, they feature custom illustrations from Debra Bianculli, calligraphy by Grace Edmands and an assortment of pretty vintage stamps, all of which come together to create something really special. For …
My lovely friend Anne-Marie of Perfect Bound made a comment about another sweet friend of mine, Erika from Delphine, on Twitter last week about how “everything she touches turns to pretty.” I was so taken by that simple observation, because it’s so very very true. Everything Erika creates is perfectly pretty. Today was a day …
