Custom Letterpress Save the Dates from Gus & Ruby Letterpress

Feb 12

I’ve been reading (and loving) the blog of Gus & Ruby Letterpress, appropriately named Paper Hounds, since before owners Samantha and Whitney had even opened shop. The gals behind Gus & Ruby are letterpress-obsessed and dog-loving, just like me, and even named their gorgeous Portsmouth, New Hampshire shop after their two doggies, Gus and Ruby. Beyond all that, they are an immensely talented duo combining their eye for fabulous design and love for fine stationery into a unique storefront meets letterpress design studio that I have high on my list of must-visit destinations the next time I find myself wandering through New England.

My love for all things Gus & Ruby aside, I wanted to share a recent custom letterpress save the date project that Whitney designed and printed for a Gus & Ruby client. For those of you who are curious as to what really goes into designing and creating custom invitations, check out Whitney’s full recap of the process over at Paper Hounds. I’m going to share the abridged version where you can see the original design sketches and the final design, which features gorgeous typography, bright colors, and quirky punny language intended to excite guests about this fun farm wedding. First up, Whitney’s original hand sketches…

And the final design after working closely with the client to achieve the perfect look and feel for their upcoming wedding. Gorgeous, right? Not to mention, I absolutely love this color combination of blue, golden yellow and bright jade green. It just feels like summer. (And I imagine we could all use a little bit of summer right about now.)
