Today it’s a great pleasure to welcome the wonderfully lovely Erin of Dandelion and Grey to The Sweetest Occasion. Erin is sharing absolutely beautiful inspiration and ideas for your next dinner party, all inspired by local foods from your local farmer’s market and it’s such a treat to welcome her here today…
Thanks so much for asking me to be a part of your blog while you are away, Cyd! I’m truly honored! I started a new series on my blog called At My Table and I’m so excited to be sharing part of this series on The Sweetest Occasion today!
For this table I wanted to create a rustic dinner party vibe, taking inspiration from a local farmer’s market. I’ve always loved growing my own herbs for cooking and wanted the table to reflect that philosophy. This concept is perfect for a rehearsal dinner, anniversary party or a charming twist on the sweetheart table at a rustic, chic wedding! I created a simple menu using local and fresh ingredients. I prepared a spinach ravioli with a sage butter sauce. I originally tried this dish on my anniversary trip and have wanted to re-create it ever since, using sage from my garden {recipe here.} Also on the menu, rustic farm bread with rosemary butter and for dessert, vanilla-lavender cupcakes and fresh mint tea!

I placed my table next to a gallery wall of empty vintage frames. I kept the setting simple, using a piece of rustic wood as a placemat, delicate vintage pink-hued napkins and of course, vintage silverware! Regular glass tumblers were used for wine, to create a casual, understated feel. A barnwood tray is a simple, yet charming centerpiece and it holds champagne & glasses for an after-dinner toast!

I adore the simple french feel of potted lavender. I weathered the terracotta pots to create a vintage feel. It’s so easy, yet has such a big impact on the overall look. Click here for instructions.

Two farm chairs placed under a garland of vintage botanical prints, hold favors – an assortment of cookbooks for “guests” to take home.

Thank you so much, Cyd, for having me! I hope you are having a great time on your trip. Happy Anniversary! xo

Oh how I adore the delightful simplicity of this. Simple meal, simple dishware. And of course, it wouldn’t be a proper dinner party without some fine wine.
Erin did an amazing job!!! Just love everything she does. How sweet are those vanilla-lavender cupcakes! And the sprig of lavender on top – the perfect little touch. All the details are fabulous.
