Good morning and happy Friday, everyone! Today I am really excited to be sharing one of my personal favorite entries in our recent Inspired Creations Contest with you. (You may remember it from seeing it on Elizabeth Anne Designs.) Inspired by the tropical paintings and old floral still life imagery of Paul Gaugin, a post-Impressionist artist from the late 1800s, this dream team of Erica O’Brien, Honey and Poppies, De-Lovely Events and Jessica Claire incorporated vibrant tropical colors, lush florals and unique references to art and painting in their jaw-dropping creation.
The star of the show is a paint-your-own dessert bar featuring miniature cakes and icing in a tropical color palette. Guests are invited to “paint” on their cakes using the colored icing and little paint brushes. Directions, printed on scrapbook paper and framed, read “You are the artist. (1) Choose your cake. (2) Choose your icing. (3) Create your design.” Of course, a stunning wedding cake in bright tropical colors also plays a starring role.
My favorite part of this gorgeous design is the stunning floral design. Boasting colorful peonies, dahlias, roses, sweet peas, ranunculus, and snowball viburnum, the floral arrangements were then layered with with vines of passion flower, clematis, and pepper berries, wispy curled ferns and peacock feathers. The result is nothing short of spectacular.
Isn’t this just absolutely stunning? While I am loving everything fall right now, this completely inspires me to want to run away for a sun-filled tropic vacation.

This is absolutely fantastic! I love the “create-your-own-cake” idea. This would make for an awesome party with my girlie artist friends.
Okay, I can’t stop staring at this. The pastel-y rainbow of colors on the paint-your-own dessert bar is absolutely hypnotizing me! Thanks for this beautiful Friday treat!
