I’ve got a little treat for you today! Not one, but two awesome Inspired Creations Contest entries, plus a fabulous DIY post from Chelsea. An abundance of inspiration to get you over the hump this week. First up, the Chicago-based team of Kio Kreations, Redwall Photo, The Chair Couture and Venuti’s Banquets was inspired by a mix of pretty metallics including gold, silver, copper, pewter and bronze. Bright pops of fuchsia play throughout the gorgeous floral design for an overall look that is elegant with plenty of glamor.
The gorgeous flower arrangements and bouquets boasted stunning fuchsia vanda orchids and anemones, which popped beautifully against the textural lotus pods. The handle of the bouquet was wrapped in silver ribbon with a pretty jeweled bracelet for a touch of extra sparkle.
Kristen Janes from Kio Kreations used pretty mercury glass candle holders and vases throughout this inspiration shoot. Here is her simple DIY how-to for creating your own mercury glass…
DIY Mercury Glass
Supplies –
Clear glassware
Krylon Looking Glass spray paint
Water bottle
Kraft paper
Tape
Instructions –
1. Clean glassware and dry
2. Tape craft paper around outside of vase
3. Use spray bottle to squirt water into the inside of the glass
4. While vase is still wet, spray Krylon Looking Glass paint inside
5. Turn upside down and allow to dry overnight
6. Apply second coat if too translucent by repeating above steps
Tip: If using glass as a candleholder, item is ready to go once you complete the last step, but if using glass as a vase, do not put water directly into the glass. Place flowers into a smaller vase and nest within mercury glass vase.
Much love to this fabulous team for sharing their talents with the Inspired Creations Contest! You know the drill by now – make sure to leave love in the comments for your favorite entries!
