Apple season is just about in full swing around these parts. From weekend trips to the local cider mill to lazy afternoons spent at the orchard bringing home bushels of the season’s best harvest, people in Upstate New York tend to get a little apple crazy in September. Which, of course, means you need a way to use up all those apples! Every year I make sure to bake at least one apple pie, but this year I want try my hand at homemade apple sauce or apple butter, too. And we can’t forget big pots of bubbling hot apple cider! It’s by far one of my favorite treats as fall gets chillier and the days shorter.
