Yesterday I mentioned how much I love the many wildly different interpretations of the Inspired Creations Contest Glitter + Glam challenge and today is really going to drive that home. Today’s team of Melanie Bittick of Jesi Haack Design, Katie McGihon Photography, MaeMae Paperie and Jocelyn Renfrow of 1703 Event Studios was inspired by 1970s punk rock meets Betsey Johnson’s super girly and glam style. With a color palette of black, gold, and hot pink, the details here are bold and modern with a punk edge. For me, this design is just plain fun. It’s wear-the-sassiest-little-black-dress-and-the-tallest-pumps-you-own kind of fun. (Which, I’ve got to say, is my very favorite kind of fun of all.)
When thinking about punk rock as her muse, Melanie from Jesi Haack Design conjured up images of safety pins, booze, graffiti, and lipstick on mirrors. From there all of the design elements came together – safety pins to attach escort cards to a glittery backdrop, lipstick pen favors for the girls and Jim Beam with custom labels for the dudes. They spray painted a bathroom mirror gold and used hot pink lipstick to write the table name on it, naming the tables after 70s punk songs.
A graffiti board “guest book” made from a standard 4’ x 8’ piece of plywood allows guests to spray paint fun messages and can later be used in the couple’s home as cool art. (Love this idea!)
To up the glam factor, they took a black sequined table linen and added gold chargers, gold-rimmed glassware, and gold flatware, then spray painted wooden folding chairs gold. For a pop of pink, they added hot pink napkins and puffy pink flowers. The final touch? Amazing paper goods and stationery in hot pink and black from MaeMae Paperie and a cocktail rimmed with gold edible glitter with hot pink glowing ice cubes.
I love everything that this incredible team came up with and can’t thank them enough for being a part of the Inspired Creations Contest! xoxo
