I hope you guys are loving the Inspired Creations Contest so far, because we’re kicking off day 2 of the entries with this incredible design from In The Now Weddings + Events, Mathieu Photography, Lunch Pail Pictures, and Creative Media Print. The concept for the shoot began with the poem “Brown Penny” by William Butler Yeats. In the poem, the speaker contemplates whether or not he is old enough to love, and then decides “one cannot begin it too soon,” inspiring the idea of “young love” and “old love.” The team created a gorgeous tablescape and an amazing kids table with common design elements. I am loving the deep navy, true red, nude, white, and bright copper color palette, in keeping with the penny theme that plays throughout the shoot. An Americana undertone is preppy yet playful making for a fresh take on the “Glitter + Glam” contest challenge. It’s honestly an understatement to say that I just love this design!
To mimic the adult table, they used kids size chivari chairs but switched up the colors by adding a fun shimmer linen in a bold red. Alphabet cookies covered in edible copper luster dust echo the copper wired names on the adult table. Making the table one-sided allowed the second half to be covered in butcher paper to give the kids a bit of extra entertainment, since everyone knows little ones can get a bit restless! In keeping with the color scheme, crayons were purchased to match and the runner was secured with two oversized clothespins, pairing functional with cute.
For favors, a late night box of treats was laid out for the guest’s ride home, since a full night of dancing can result in a case of munchies. Glitter paper in the window added just the right amount of subtle sparkle. A greyhound was the perfect cocktail to fit the color scheme and a glittery drink stirrer added a touch of class.
An inventive guest book idea plays on the phrase “a penny for your thoughts.” Guests would pick a year, write a memory from that year on a card, drop a penny in the envelope from that year, and place it in the vase. Kristin from In The Now brilliantly used lines from the poem that corresponded with that item. For example, “Go and love, go and love” was added under the year 2011, and then “I am old enough” for the year 2009 to represent the year the couple might have met.
All of the details from this shoot are so perfectly coordinated, it was honestly hard to edit down the images to share. In addition to a really fabulous wedding, these ideas would also be perfect inspiration for a really fun rehearsal dinner or anniversary party. Many thanks to this incredible team for sharing their talents with us and being a part of the Inspired Creations Contest. Remember that reader response will be taken into consideration when selecting winners so be sure to leave love for your favorite entries!
