Style Me Pretty Color Palette Contest

Where are my fellow Style Me Pretty stalkers out there? Everyone? Ok. Good. I figured as much! Well, you may remember Abby’s call the week before last for inspiration boards based on your favorite little black dress, the idea being that there is great versatility in opting for cute, highly wearable and fashionable black dresses for bridesmaids attire. My excited little self jumped right on that and camp up with the following.

Dress is the silk tricotine Rebecca by JCrew.
Ice cream cones and stationary from Martha Stewart.
Centerpiece by Farmer Julie.
Bouquet photograph by Punam Bean via Style Me Pretty.
Imagine how excited I was to see it pop up on Style Me Pretty today! I have my fingers crossed I win the big one…a $300 gift certificate to the store of your choice! (Maybe I can get those amazing JCrew shoes after all?) There is some pretty stiff competition, but I’m loving my board and as I was making it I totally started to [momentarily] rethink our entire color palette. Go figure, right?
I chose this particular little black dress because it is feminine, flirty and just the right balance of sophisticated and sassy. I picture this as an outdoor wedding in late summer, a laid back evening fete in beautiful garden somewhere. Instead of using pastels or lighter shades as is so common with garden weddings, I opted for vibrant and saturated shades of purple and fuschia to keep it festive and romantic without being overly girly. To me these colors sing of excitement and celebration and I just love the mix of the formal letterpress stationary with the unexpected ice cream cone treat and centerpieces in wooden crates along the tables. It’s the kind of party where the food and drink is first rate and yet where it would be totally acceptable for a bridesmaid or two to end up running around barefoot by the end of the night. Now that is my kind of wedding.

I am so glad you girls like it! It makes me want an ice cream cone and long for the smell of lilacs just looking at it! hahaha
