The week’s final Inspired Creations Contest entry before the weekend is so incredibly fun, it’s really the perfect way to kick off Friday morning. It’s bold, colorful, a little quirky and full of energy, a unique inspiration shoot with a decided 60s mod feel that was styled, art directed and photographed by Nicole Pfeiffer. She teamed up with The Saginaw Art Museum, Paper Platypus and Designs by Noelle for a result that is fiercely hip and undeniably fun.
Inspired by vintage 60s mod style, Nicole designed the shoot using an updated color palette of mustard yellow, gray, silver and black. She used the clean lines of the architecture at The Saginaw Art Museum to help shape her vision, keeping ease and accessibility in mind as she gathered assorted dinnerware, accessories and trinkets to pull the look together. For the table Nicole collected an assortment of objects in fun shapes and colors, with the occasional pop of zebra print pattern to keep it a touch unexpected.
The photo booth elements were all about fun, ranging from hand drawn lips on a stick to whimsical Halloween masks. The bride and bridesmaid wore authentic 60s-era vintage dresses and stylish accessories like colorful tights, chunky owl-shaped necklaces and beaded headbands that I just adore. The idea of sourcing things locally and reusing old, found objects is reflected throughout the shoot. I love the bold, colorful paper flower bouquets from Paper Platypus and the pretty hand lettering of Designs by Noelle carried throughout the stationery design.
Pretty incredible, right? I love Nicole’s focus on collecting vintage wares and repurposed objects for a funky and fresh, budget-friendly look that’s really easy and simple to recreate. A few weekends roving local flea markets, antique shops and garage sales would get the job done. And using a museum or another venue with great lines and a neutral color palette is a great foundation when planning an event. I had a blast being involved in this shoot. Nicole put so much thought into this wedding idea. She had every detail planned out. I consider myself creative and she puts me to shame. Nicole put color, design and textures to work, and boy did it pay off.

I love the idea that you can keep the paper flower bouquet long after the event! You can perhaps use it as a decorative piece in your home. Many times, fake flowers look “fake” and get “dusty” looking, and I remember not being able to enjoy my real bouquet. It died while I was on my honeymoon :( Some of the bouquets even look pretty rough by the end of the evening depending on the flowers used and I think the paper would be more resilient. I desperately wanted hydrangeas until I realized how quickly they droop and need water almost instantly after the ceremony! Who wants to babysit their bouquet for the night? I wanted to dance!
Perfect colors, props, and accessories make for a completely mod scene! Everything works so well to compliment and fit the theme to a tee. Its adorable and posh at the same time. I really enjoy it!
