There used to be a bar tucked into the hill on the walk up to the Carrier Dome where they served the most over the top fish bowl drinks. They were loaded with booze, topped with twisty neon straws and feature Swedish fish floating in brightly colored liquid. And they made the rest of the cold walk up the hill to watch Syracuse basketball a whole lot more entertaining. That bar has since closed their doors and I’ve since grown a bit older, but those cocktails still remain imprinted in my memory as legendary. Usually tiki bar inspired and tropical flavored, there’s nothing quite like a good fish bowl cocktail. Until today, because I’ve gone and made them even better. These mermaid water fish bowl cocktails are the slightly classier, fairly grown adult version. Fair warning – they’re still loaded with booze. Oops!
Summer cocktails
You guys know by now that I simply can’t refuse a well-made summer cocktail. Trying out new recipes and making friends act as my personal test subjects while sipping cocktails on our back patio is one of my personal favorite things! Today I’ve teamed up with Master of Mixes to share this perfectly summery and seasonal blueberry mojito recipe with you. Because of their sincere commitment to quality, Master of Mixes allows you to enjoy naturally flavored, scratch-quality cocktails at home, even if you’re not like me and concocting your own simple syrups from scratch sounds like zero fun. And let’s be honest! Even if that is fun, sometimes you just want something quicker and easier that’s still crazy delicious, and that’s where this mojito comes into play!

Friday, already? That happened fast this week! We’ve got two birthday boys in the house to celebrate this weekend so that’s going to dominate the next couple of days. I’ve always been a big fan of blueberries but after my inaugural trip to Maine and my first taste of wild blueberries a few years back, it was all over for me. I am now certifiably outright obsessed with blueberries. In pies, cobblers, ice cream and even cocktails. Or maybe especially cocktails! Something about fresh …
It’s the time of year when honestly all I want to do is hoard all the fresh fruit I can get my hands on. It’s a real thing. It happens to those of us who live north of the Mason-Dixon Line who know our days of fresh produce are limited and will all too soon …
I love a crisp, citrus cocktail during the summer months. Vodka and gin are my spirits of choice. Mixed with something sparkly and a couple wedges of lime, lemon, blood orange or grapefruit, you can’t go wrong. To throw a casual, crowd-pleasing cocktail party this summer, mix up a couple of pretty drinks and include …
After spending the weekend in warm and balmy DC, I’ve had summer on the brain. Sure, I love spring, but the waterfront native in me just can’t get enough of the warm summer months. A cold cocktail, a water view and flip flops are all it takes to keep me smiling all summer long. From …
